Duel Tapani Linnaluoto/ Heikki Vehmas
After receiving the terrain-image rendered with Terragen, I begun working with it using 3D Studio Max. As usual in composite-projects, I setup the terrain-picture as environment/background-image, and then created 'stand-in'-object/geometry for the ground, so that the two mechs, which I had created earlier, could cast shadow on the background. After trying a few different positions for the mechs to stand on, and wound up with this idea of having a 'duel' between them two. That led to creating an explosion+smoke on the mech closer to 'camera'.

Hmmn, I guess that's just about it, only, add hours of general tweaking there and here, and that's the result. :) After rendering a 1280*960 version of the scene (which btw. took some 25 minutes on a dual-P3-450), the picture went to photoshop, where it received a little blurring on the distant horizon, which had aliasing, and then, just some overal sharpness, and of course, because of the competition-rules, the resolution was *raped* down to 640*480 (*growling sounds*). Well, anyways, that's it. I hope someone likes the picture. :)

Oh, how devilishly good"

"Wow...love this one!Great atmosphere matching on you mechs!...cool explosion debris too...the sky is impressive too!"
