FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PLANETSIDE SOFTWARE RELEASES TERRAGEN™ FOR MACINTOSH V0.9 Auckland, New Zealand ( January 10, 2005 ) - Planetside Software is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Terragen for Macintosh v0.9 for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X. Terragen is a photorealistic landscape visualisation application. It has been used in major motion pictures, independent film, television, music videos, award winning computer games and for print media, including cover art for National Geographic and Newsweek magazines. v0.9 is a major new release of the Mac version of Terragen. Primary improvements relate to rendering, with a much faster rendering engine, enhanced antialiasing modes and improved shadow rendering. There have also been considerable user interface additions and improvements, from additional control over various scene elements and terrain editing through to workflow enhancements such as customisable workspace support. Many of these improvements are unique to the Mac version. Of particular note are interface improvements for users of non-English versions of OS X, such as Japanese. Animation support has been improved, with the addition of a tool to allow easier creation of animation scripts, along with other enhancements. AppleScript support has also been expanded, both for creating animations and extending the capabilities of Terragen. An exciting new addition is a command line tool for use on OS X, making it easier to use Terragen Mac in situations such as render farms. Included with v0.9 is an Xgrid Kit, which makes it simple to utilise Apple's easy to use Xgrid clustering software to do distributed animation rendering. Terragen is free for personal non-commercial use, with a few feature restrictions. Terragen can be registered for $99 US. Registration is compulsory for commercial use. Educational and bulk discounts are available. v0.9 is a free update.
