I wonder why this has not been commented yet ... good work - maybe some more saturated colours than I can handle

I think there is something missing. It's out of balance (I do a lot of out of balance renders). Maybe a airliner added to the right side?

I think that's probably the weight of the heavy contrast. Maybe a little more of the umbra from the eclipse would balance the effect.

You got a great diamond ring there.
the contrast between the lit and unlit part of the atmosphere is more than I remember from 99 when I had the great luck to witness a total eclipse.
It looks good though and maybe some stars on the dark side could add to the balance njeneb mentioned?

I just see there are stars, but for soome strange reason they apear more obviously on the bright side, at least on my monitor.
