Vangelis still alive??? I hope so - the music was an important part of the movie!
He is still alive and his music was indispensable for that movie. As far as I know he's not involved in Blade Runner 2049; the Icelandic musician Jóhann Jóhannsson will be responsible for the score of the sequel.
However, you can hear an echo of Vangelis's music in the trailer.
It actually looks good. It has that '80's sci-fi vibe.
The fact that Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario, Enemy) is at the helm is also a good thing.
