Title: Walter's Room
Post by: cyphyr on March 13, 2017, 01:19:14 PM
Looking forward to Alien Covenant and was inspired by the Walter advert.

There was a Megascan Rock on the left but it threw off the balance of the image so it's gone ...

Nice composition! Great view from inside out!
I only understand a little about object making. Does each face (wall) of your room have a separate texture shader to be reflective or non reflective?
I ask because I really like the reflection on the floor, but I am not thrilled about the burst inside the room at the top and the bright circle flare inside. Does the extra planet do that circle inside because of burst, or is it an after effect?

I am not tearing your image apart, I am referencing it for possible views in future renders.  :)

I almost always postprocess my images.
The room is entirely procedurally textured with a VERY fine bump to soften the reflections. I couldn't get them quite as soft as I would have liked without it getting very noisy or obvious bump.
I think the burst you refer too is just the post process lens flare.
Here is the raw version.

Beautiful scene, love the leaves on the floor, adds lotsa realism that does...nice tree as well and great room modeling/texturing.

This is really cool. Not a typical Terragen render   :)
