Title: Spherical WIP_HELP
Post by: bobbystahr on August 17, 2017, 06:16:43 PM
I'm this far but am finding getting things where I want them so it displays correctly most annoying. I'd really like to have a Spherical 3D Preview as the current one says nada about what to're gonna get til it's rendered and viewed in FSP or something
Comments on this are moist welcome, necessary in fact.
The .tif's too big or I'd have posted it...If you want I can e mail it to you

Looks pretty interesting already. Don't know what you're aiming for so no other comment.

When I tried this I couldn't get my head round it until....

I set up 4 cameras facing N/S/E/W and used those to place the objects and put landmarks at the edges where the cameras in this configuration cross over. I can then use the relationship to these known fixed objects to place things...

...It's weird, but workable.

Yes, it looks good afaik. I always render at very low specs and size to see what is where and such. Camera should be pretty close to the most important assets.

Will continue with this; it's the 2 trunks and the fauna(Magpie, Chipmunk and Mouse[in the log]) surrounding/on them...guess I gotta have the camera close in on them...will try a new setup as this one was most unsatisfactory.

Or maybe this is just not a good image for a Spherical render. Will do a normal one later as well...off to the chiro now....over n out.

here it is as a portrait
the mushrooms on the reclining log are a converted .lwo I got somewhere; same with the Aminita next to the erect log.
the Magpie is from adam thwaites at renderosity and the mouse and chipmunk are the same prop with 2 expressions...very handy by JTrout I'm guessing from rendo as well. Grass by Dune, Wood_anemone by Walli and the tree from XFROG freebies, sorry I forget which one and the .tgd is on a different computer in another room.

I like it too, though two animals is a bit too much  :P I like the magpie, btw. I would add some gravel-like clumps or rougher soil to the ground though. Just a mix of (uncolored) small fake stones and billow displacements of 0.5-3cm or so.

Yeah, the mouse was an afterthought so it will disappear.
Here's the Magpie if you want it

Uh don't bother, after too many pages of semi porn poses I couldn't find it...you could likely make a much better one any how...

I had to circumvent a lot of those ladies, but found it. See if I can use or mod it. Thanks, Bobby.

The RTP shows spherical properly. If you want to see a normal (non-distorted) view of your spherical scene you can use the regular 3D preview and rotate the camera.

D'oh...I rarely use it as on the workstation a small full render is faster on most of what I've been working on...do y'think more RAM would help that?

No, the RTP is entirely CPU-based. RAM should not be an issue unless you're actually running out (in which case Windows would warn you).

then it's up to Ryzen or if I can afford it an i7

Ryzen is going to give you much better performance for the price right now. Or Threadripper if you can afford it (still much cheaper than equivalent i9 performance). :D
