Be brave and share your secret images, that weren't good to show but not bad enough to be deleted and are still on your hard drives, guys and girls.
Here is one of my not finished bad ones. Curious about yours :)
Nice, reminiscent of the Tet from Oblivion.
Unfortunately all my images fall into this category. :) I would crop out the building on #3 and just have that glorious sunset.
I personally like the sunset one...it seems the product of the previous ones and I think it works...just needs a bit of a back story for context
Part of Makehuman testing. HEAVY photoshop effects...
I've got more than a few of those , but I'm always thinking, maybe that one feature would be useful someday.
Here's some rocks that turned out more like horse manure, but you never know :)

yup, them are road apples for sure...hee hee hee...well done
Nice ones.
Yes you never know when you can use an old scene.
I try to give the images the same name as the TGD scene file to go back to an old scene and try to improve it.
This is another one from 4 years ago.

That's actually pretty cool and could be vastly improved by using Dune's grasses instead of what you've got there. I find using 3 or 4 different pops to be good myself.

Would look better probably. I had something in my mind that i don't remember now :)
This is one of the cloud renders after the new Terragen version.
That is really awful, you can't show that here! ;D

Glad you got the pun. I like it actually. And the other one, with the desert, too. With some more translucent grasses and small shrub and a lonely (dead) tree it may well be worth having another go at it.

that's what I thought, a good base scene IMHO.
Here's a failure from me. Very recent, so still working on it.
Another attempt trying to make cumulonimbus clouds.
Why not. Maybe later.
Some other renders.
When i saw something similar to the Saturn like planet image below i stopped working on it.
Nice ones guys. Just saw them.

Looks good! I wonder; has anyone ever tried to make snow using clouds?

Yes there is one or more old threads about that René.

The middle Saturn image looks really good. Too bad you stopped working on it.
Thanks for the link Kadri, but I was actually thinking about thick snow on the ground when I saw AP's image. :) It must be doable but it will probably result in long render times. Subsurface scattering like in that image is hard to achive using only textures.
I have hundreds of unposted images on my hard drive, mostly from abandoned projects. Maybe, someday I'll finish them.
Trying to sculpt with the painted shader. It turned out to be very cumbersome. ::)
I like them all René. Keep posting(all) :)
You might remember this.

There are very old threads about clouds using them in different ways.
It is certainly doable. Not sure about the lighting. Haven't tried them in that way René
Have to write something to post as it looks...
"It is certainly doable. Not sure about the lighting. Haven't tried them in that way René"
I might give it a go when I finish the Mars project, if ever. ;)

The believably is still lacking some significant details required to make a convincing enough cumulonimbus cloud. I never attempted trying to make snow using clouds.
There is a certain point in some cloud renders where the brain says "Shaving Cream" and after that I can't see the clouds as anything but shaving cream.
All very good experiments. Especially like the strata rock displacing Kadri.
Thanks.
Nice. I like the first one especially.
There are some really great images here actually. I quite like the ones Kadri started the thread with, and many others. It's interesting to me, sometimes the ones we feel are "unfinished" or "not good enough" might actually be quite appreciated by others.
Speaking of clouds as snow, perhaps you recall Matt's Christmas Ball holiday sale image...

Yes i think the same about the other images here and it feels like you are searching for files in the computers of others :)

I had forgotten about that image. The snow looks great.
Curious if you could share that :P Would be a nice addition to the file section.
Just when you think...I've got this....you realize....broken stones and sand????????
Dune's simple road and AP's function 17 of 100
A simple color change will fix :) :)
This is another unfinished project.
Nice ones.

Couldn't find the image i saw, but it was too much similar to my taste.
Nearly same composition with water reflection of the planet and rings etc.
Otherwise i would have finished it.
A GIF animation of a population displacement test.
Not sure if i have it shared here or not.
That is really cool, Kadri.

Hear! Hear!...nicely done.
:)
01* My short animation was different at first (in many stages actually).
In one version the camera would go back to the exploding star and much closer into this test image.
Render time and the things i wanted to do were too much to finish it this way.
02* I wanted to make the galaxies partly in Terragen with clouds and partly in Lightwave with vertices.
Because of render time i made it mostly in Lightwave.
03*Last image was more a snowy image attempt.
I was looking for somewhere to put a forest .... ;D
3 different versions of my last render.
Cool!
I could not decide which planet "design" I like most but the stars give the whole picture that certain something! I think it could look great in the other versions too. :)
Wrong section, Kadri! Stars definitely are a nice addition, I like v3.
Thanks guys.
The final version in the other thread does have stars too actually. On the left side at least.
The image was more like that there is an atmosphere-planet close on the right side and the stars are seen only more to the left.
But i could maybe have ditched that idea altogether and used the stars all around as it is already not realistic.
Here's a couple.
I like those.
I was attempting to capture some of the vibe of the Enterprise-A in the Mutara Sector from Wrath of Khan. It's obviously very saturated...but so was the film. I had some other angles but I must have zapped them. I'd re-do the nebula in TFD (or maybe even an element in terragen) these days and render it and the boat in Octane.
Second are tests when I was putting together the Firefly 15th Anniversary video from a year or two back. There's tons of that stuff.
Nice renders.
Especially the Firefly renders look like ready to use.
Quote from: SILENCER on February 26, 2020, 09:57:25 AMI was attempting to capture some of the vibe of the Enterprise-A in the Mutara Sector from Wrath of Khan.
Wow, that first image looks really nice! Back when I was not just a lurker and actively created in 3D, the Enterprise introduced in the films was something I wanted to model. I tried, but never got my modeling skills up to what it took.
And just to be a total Trek geek, technically, the A was not in the Mutara nebula. That was the NCC 1701, which was self destructed in The Search for Spock. The NCC 1701-A was gifted to the crew at the end of The Voyage Home. ;D

Echo! Great Textures!
You're right about the A designation., In the shop we always referred to the refit as the A. Same model, different ILM paint job.
I was lucky enough to examine the original model, the 8 footer or however large it was, back when we had the job at Foundation Imaging of doing the FX for the Director's Cut of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. It's an astounding piece of physical modeling. I believe it had the A designation on the saucer by that time. I was on another show when that job came through. I asked to be switched over. No dice, not senior enough at the time. I was bummed about that.
As for the Firefly textures, that is the model we used on the TV show, not the film, which was done by Pierre Droulet. The LW model, which was repainted for the movie with enormous UVs that caused all kinds of grief for Lightwave at the time, is buried Lord knows where in Zoic's archive. So this was the only one readily available. Doesn't look too bad considering it's from 2002 or whatever.

Ahh i would love to see that. One of my first physical models i build when i was a kid was from UFO and Star Trek in the early 70'ies.

Wow - that's awesome. One of my favorite scenes in all of the films is that long shot in the first movie when the Enterprise first leaves space dock. Would love to see that model.
Awesome works and look! :
Perhaps the bridge I made today should be in a city in France or UK? I could make a jigsaw puzzle out of it.... always fun to connect the railings. It was fun to do anyway. :)
bridge2.jpg
...again I have thoughts about a video game... Shadows of the Colossos...
Your render has already a cool look so far though the background is a bit empty.
That's a cool bridge, luvs. I would add some world scale dirt to it (slightly Y-stretched ridgy or mixed fractal, with the dark color slightly upped (0.1) into the color input of default shader). Als decrease saturation of background grasses (add blue node 'saturation' with fractal as input, and get some more variation in it, lighter darker (add multiply color, with fractal as input), feed that into main grey color of surface layer or as child.
Also increase tree coverage and more variety. And maybe change clouds into more sunny. Worth it!
