Flash EOL
« on: August 03, 2017, 03:36:00 AM »

https://blogs.adobe.com/conversations/2017/07/adobe-flash-update.html

“Adobe is planning to end-of-life Flash. Specifically, we will stop updating and distributing the Flash Player at the end of 2020 and encourage content creators to migrate any existing Flash content to these new open formats.”

While it may not have much to do with TG, some arty folk have used this for their sites and it's going to take time to migrate.

Thanks for the warning, Ben. Horrible, my whole site is indeed based on Flash, and I've spent a few hours already trying to find an easy way to convert all interacting(!) swf/fla files into html5. What a mess!

A few softwares are mentioned; FlaExporter, Haxe, CreateJS, Edge Animate CC, Google Webdesigner, CS6 Wallaby Technology, but it's quite complicated. My SWF's intercommunicate also, and I don't know if that's easily translated into HTML5. I hate it when these things just stop working! I like my website, but perhaps need to build it up anew.

That's exactly why I do like Flash, because your images can't easily be nicked.

Yes but someone who wants to steal it just have to use the print screen key for example.
What i mean is when someone wants to use your image he will, whatever you do.
You just make it harder for everyone who just wants to use your image as a desktop background for example.

It is like in games and programs. All the DRM etc. makes is harder for everyone and they are still cracked.
I have an USB dongle on my computer for Lightwave 10 for example(11 doesn't need it any more), it feels just meaningless...

There are ways to prevent right-clicking in HTML 5 / CSS...

I know, but I've got a few movable big images, that are viewed through a smaller window. You can see everything in great detail by moving it around, but (afaik) can't be taken as a whole, unless cracking the whole thing. And rightclick and having a popup say 'this is copyrighted material', I know of it. When trying to make a living off production of images, it's always annoying when people use it without at least some payment or asking permission. But images from websites are usually too small to really use, so I don't really care much anylonger.
Main concern is to make a new website now  >:(

Sounds like you still got some time.  But when you do, Wordpress.  It's great.  :)
