Scattering Softness Tests
« on: July 10, 2016, 12:15:26 AM »
Some examples of changing the Softness parameter found under Cloud Lighting Tab, Multiple Scattering.
From 0.0 to 4.0 and one example of negative softness -1.0.

1.0 seems to look the most realistic. 0.0 could work for a thick cloudy storm system during an overcast. 2.0 just appears to be a bit to bright underneath the clouds. The negative values seem reminiscent of the old cloud light scattering.

Agreed, but it probably also depends on the height of the clouds (500m or 5000m). What I do like about the darker undersides is the reflected light. But they are too dark.

Great examples. I was lowering density, but this softness guide will probably help!
